Preview of Nebraska vs Northwestern

On Saturday October 5th Nebraska will face off against the Northwestern Wildcats.  Many have asked for a prediction of this game and so I the Sad Nebraskan will provide my pessimistic view point to help temper the insane arrogance of the Husker fan base and provide facts based on the proven science of the Black Friday Curse.

At face value these two teams have a lot in common their names begin with N and both absolutely suck.
This game represents a battle of who is the least sucky team whose name starts with an N.  It need not be said that nationally no one will give a single cow pie about this game.   Nebraska fans will care of course.  Northwestern fans will....wait does Northwestern even have fans?  The kids at that school are way too busy doing blow and polishing up their investment banking internship resumes to give one crap about this game.

The commonalities end there.  Nebraska has on paper the better ingredients for victory. Nebraska has home advantage and seemingly far better players.  We did enter this season ranked for a reason.   With the game at home we should win.

Will the Black Friday curse come to bear on this game?  No.  After being utterly humiliated on national television and managing to achieve the horrendous title of biggest loss on College Game Day ever I think its safe to say the curse is partially satiated on Nebraskan tears.   Hell the amount of tears shed by our offensive line as the Ohio State ran a train on Martinez ought to satisfy the wicked buffalo spirit for awhile.  I hope.

On top of that this is exactly the kind of meaningless game that the curse has allowed us to win.

Perhaps the biggest question is whether there is a team left for Frost to scrape up off the pavement after last week's beat down.

I predict Husker victory in a close game.  Huskers 21 NW 17.

UPDATE 10/4/2019:
Scratch that initial overly optimistic prediction.

WE ARE SCREWED!

New score prediction -  Huskers 21 NW 24

I was a fool for believing that the curse had done enough harm to us.  No the curse is in full effect.  The BIG 10 just announced that Khalil Davis are top Tackler and arguably best defensive player has been suspended vs Northwestern.  In an already close game this could make all the difference.  I take this differently than my fellow x and o Nebraskan football analysts however.  This is a sign that the curse is coming on us full stop.  I now predict we lose this game likely in a close fashion.  Maybe this is a game that teases us like the Colorado game and we think we will win but then victory will be snatched away at the last moment.

Sorry Husker fans but we are going down!

Still Go Big Red!
